Christine Kinsey

" The themes of liberation and enclosure are vehicles that articulate the narrative line in my paintings and in my poetry, which also forms an important part of my creative process. The layers of influence that have evolved from'knowing about' being female, growing up in an industrial Welsh Valley and now living in rural West Wales, and, Cymreictod a sense of feeling of being Welsh within the Celtic/ Christian history of Wales forms a backdrop against which characters in each painting enacts a role.
The characters often appear in continuous representation acting as 'remembrancers and showers forth' moving through time and space in a quest to unify an outer world with an inner world, they seek a bridge which leads from the invisible to the visible acknowledging a spirituality that lies behind our perception of reality. The poetry of R.S.Thomas, which explores the interface between the worldly, the spirit and the imagination acts as a catalyst in my most recent paintings".
